Port Of Entry
To Doing Business In Milford

As Milford harbor welcomes boaters, the city welcomes business to the shore. When considering a move to Milford, one of the first contacts is with Bob Gregory. Bob maintains a database of available sites and can provide an unbiased assessment of different locations within the city. He is also familiar with the various state incentive programs, people to contact, and can provide other helpful information. Site visits can be arranged.

Milford’s advantages are many:

Location - Between Boston and New York and within easy commuting distance to the latter. Easy access to Fairfield and New Haven Counties in Connecticut.

Access to transportation - Interstate 95, the Merrit-Wilbur Cross Parkway and U.S. 1 pass through Milford. Nearby airports, deep water ports, rail service. It’s possible to get here by train, boat, car, or plane.

Good labor force - Trained work force with high-tech skills and a strong work ethic are present. Training programs are available for specific jobs.

Available land and buildings - There is an inventory of existing buildings in a variety of sizes zoned for manufacturing, retail, commercial or office. The city does not own land for sale or lease but does work closely with realtors, developers and owners. For specific information on available buildings and sites, click on the link above to CERC and click on "Sitefinder".  As a mature community vacant land is in short supply. Reuse of existing property is encouraged.

Good housing stock - A variety of single-family homes, a wide range of condominiums, and apartments are available.

Education - A solid public education system, private schools in town or close by, a state vocational-technical school, and higher education in neighboring communities with 10 colleges and universities within a 20-minute drive including Yale.

Quality of life - New England atmosphere, invigorating cultural climate, multi-level sports involvement, concern for the environment, sense of history, beaches and boating, varied shopping experience, low crime rate, all in Milford.
