City of Milford Ordinance Section 2.5-11 requires that all alarm systems be registered with the Milford Police Department. This ordinance regulates burglar, hold-up and fire alarm systems. Please complete the attached form and return it to the Milford Police Department, Crime Prevention Unit, 430 Boston Post Road, Milford, CT 06460.

Ordinance 2.5-11 also regulates fines for false alarms. Each alarmed premise is allowed three false alarms per calendar year (January 1 thru December 31). After responding to three false alarms a warning letter is sent to the alarmed address requiring the person responsible at the premise to contact their alarm company to inspect and correct the problem. If the problem is user error, training on system use is recommended. The alarm company or property representative is then required to respond in writing to the police department with the remedy. Any additional false alarms received will result in a fine being imposed.
