Mayor Seeks Public’s Opinion on Possible Cell Tower at Eisenhower Park.
Mayor Richetelli, City Parks, Beach & Recreation Commission will conduct a Public Hearing/Information Session on July 1, 2009; Residents Encouraged to Voice Opinions on Possibility of Erecting Cell Tower in Park.
Milford, CT, June 15, 2009: Milford Mayor James L. Richetelli, Jr. wants to hear from YOU!
Mayor Richetelli will convene a public hearing/information session on
July 1, 2009 to elicit comments from City residents on the possibility of constructing a telecommunications (cell) tower and related facility in Eisenhower Park. The forum – where the Milford Parks, Beach & Recreation Commission will join Mayor Richetelli – will begin at 7 p.m., in the City Hall Auditorium, 110 River Street.
This meeting will afford all Milford residents, even those whose property does not abut the Park, to voice their opinions about this possible development.
“As residents may recall, the Board of Aldermen in May directed the City of Milford to explore possible alternative locations for the proposed YMCA cell tower on other city or state property,” Mayor Richetelli explained. “To fully explore this option, I want to hear the residents’ comments on this matter.”
As described by Cellco Partnership, the company proposing a new cell tower, the facility would consist of a 140-ft. monopole tower located in the northern portion of Eisenhower Park. It would be approximately 600 feet west of Foote Softball Field, adjacent to the existing CL&P electric transmission line right-of-way. At the base of the tower, there would be a 12’ x 30’ shelter to house radio equipment and a back-up generator.
A representative of Cellco Partnership is expected to attend the public hearing/information session. Maps will be available to depict where the proposed cell tower would be located.
