City of Milford Highlighted on Fox 61 Morning News Show
Three-Hour Broadcast Showcases Local Businesses, Attractions and Government; Features Included were Historical Highlights and Community Attributes That Distinguish Milford as “One of the Best”
Milford, CT, May, 8, 2009: The “Small City with a Big Heart” enjoyed a well-deserved promotional boost today as the Fox 61 Morning News team broadcast live and taped pieces from 6 to 9 a.m., highlighting the City of Milford.
Motorists rounding the Daniel Street curve shortly after 6 a.m. may have noticed Mayor James L. Richetelli, Jr. kicking off the live show, as he was interviewed by Fox 61 personalities on the deck of the Stonebridge Restaurant.
“The interviewers asked what I liked best about Milford,” said Mayor Richetelli. “I told them I like the people most of all. And then I highlighted our convenient location, the City’s 17 miles of beautiful coastline, our recreational activities and the fact that ours is one of the longest town greens in Connecticut.”
The City of Milford has been named one of the “100 Best Communities for Young People in the United States” by the national organization, America’s Promise. The City also was recognized recently by U.S. News and World Report as one of the “10 Best Places for Senior Citizens.”
Hosted by Fox 61 personalities Logan Byrnes and Sarah French, the Morning Show cast a wide spotlight on the businesses and activities that have helped Milford earn those accolades. The show featured a taped piece on the beauty and history of Charles Island; an ultimate Frisbee demonstration inside the Stonebridge Restaurant; a feature on the youth helmet initiative sponsored by the Carter Mario Law Firm; and the Milford Fire Department Toys For Tots program, among others.
“There is so much to love about Milford, it was a pleasure to share a few of those things with our guests,” Mayor Richetelli said.
The broadcast will be accessible on-line after 2 p.m. today through the Morning News link on www.fox61.com.
