Milford Umpires Association
The Milford Umpires Association has been providing softball officials for the Milford Recreation Department's ASA Softball Leagues for approximately 50 years. In addition, the MUA provides umpires for sectional, state, regional, and National ASA Tournaments in both slow-pitch and fast-pitch.
Throughout the years the MUA has always been supportive of the community, each year the Association holds two tournaments - the Spring Early Bird and the Fall One-Pitch Tournament. The monies raised from these tournaments allow the Association to award four (4) scholarships to students in the Milford School System to pursue higher education. The MUA has also contributed to the Milford Food Bank, Toys for Tots, and other functions and organizations in need.
The MUA prides itself on providing umpires who have respect and knowledge of game, and work diligently to promote good sportsmanship at all levels. Each year the Association selects a male and a female who exhibit these qualities an award them with the George Doebler Sportsmanship Award.
Individuals interested in becoming an Umpire can email the President. New candidates will be provided with a current rule book and umpires manual to study, they then must receive a score of 70 on a written test and attend clinics prior to the start of the season.
The MUA invites players to provide them with feedback throughout the season. If you have an experience with an umpire, good or bad; need an interpretation of a rule; or have any other concern please contact the President of the Association, Russ Pasacreta.
